SSL Certificates

SSL Certificates

The License Manager plugin also monitors the validity of your SSL/TLS certificates. It regularly checks each certificate’s expiration date and ensures that you are notified before it becomes invalid.

Notifications are delivered in the form of automatically created Jira issues, with the responsible user assigned as the Assignee. The notification period can be configured by administrators in the Notification Settings section.

Adding SSL Certificate

Manage Access

When adding a new SSL сertificate, you can configure Manage Access settings to control who can view, edit, and receive notifications related to the SSL сertificate:

  • Owner – The user designated as the owner of this SSL сertificate. The owner typically has full control over the entity.

  • Assignee – Select the user who will be automatically assigned to the Jira issue when the SSL сertificate is approaching its expiration date.

  • Share – Choose additional users who will have the same permissions as you (the creator) to view, edit, and delete the tracked SSL сertificate.

These settings ensure that the right team members are informed and have access to manage the SSL сertificate lifecycle effectively.

Update

The License Manager plugin automatically checks and updates the expiration date for SSL сertificates based on the schedule configured in the Notification Settings. However, there may be situations where you need to manually force an update of the SSL сertificate registration information — for this purpose, the Update functionality is available.

  • To update a single SSL сertificate, navigate to the Actions menu next to the SSL сertificate and click Update. This will force a refresh of the expiration data for that specific SSL сertificate.

  • For multiple SSL сertificates, use the bulk actions update option. Simply select the desired SSL сertificates from the list and click the Update button to refresh their expiration data all at once.

This functionality is useful when you suspect that SSL сertificate information may be outdated and want to ensure the data is current.

Import/Export

To quickly add a large number of SSL certificates at once, as well as conveniently manage a list of all your SSL certificates in CSV format, use the Import/Export function.

Manage Access

You can share SSL certificates added to the License Manager plugin with anyone in Jira on your instance. You can grant access either to an individual user in Jira or at a user group level, such as Jira Administrators.

Near the SSL certificate entry in the Actions menu, select Manage Access:

Manage Access

In the modal window that opens, select users or groups who will be granted access:

When you share an SSL certificate with another user or group of users, those users automatically become the owner of that SSL certificate record and have full rights.
